Beside them, the more limited but no less important, a swirl of eighth grade student body equally divided between beams and companions, a rich family of leftist intellectuals, rambling and inconclusive, unable to educate their children, too busy to commit, a rich family right, complete with a father with a past Secretary and a future fascist suppression of democracy, unable, too, to educate their children decently, too busy trying to disengage, an Australian boy who spies through the window in front of Catherine, a sick aunt and the inevitable rough relatives of the province. All told from the narrative voice of the little Catherine. How many have we seen this movie? Many, many, many. And do not go far enough because they stay in the previous production Virzì to find the stupid left-wing intellectual, ignorant, rude and indifferent to the right, the unhappy housewife, the teenager who gained from the hardships of life.
